A man walked into the dentists office and said, “Excuse me, Mr. Dentist, I think I may be a moth.”
The dentist looked puzzled. “If you think you’re a moth, why did you walk into a dentist’s office?”
Thanks to the Red River Valley Fair Assn.
The members of The Hard 2 Git Bluegrass Band want to thank the Red River Valley Fair Assn. for making us a part of their fair entertainment for the fifth year. We have received much feed back on our performance there. It was a special time when Jonathan Perry joined us in mid performance all the way from Austin Texas. Jonathan and wife Lindsey moved to Austin where Lindsey’s career has taken her as Jonathan continues his education at Baylor University in Waco. Since the Red River Valley Fair was our first performance as Hard 2 Git five years ago, Jonathan drove up to be a part of it this year. He came out on stage just in time to play his guitar break in Blue Night to the surprise of the audience. It was fun for all and we really enjoyed spending some time with Jonathan. We really appreciate the fish meal the fair assn. provided for Hard 2 Git and their hospitality while we are there. Thanks Rita Tim Wade and all the hard working gang at the fair Assn.
July H2G Show Cancelled
We had to cancel the planned Hard 2 Git show for July 26th at the Fairgrounds in Paris. We will miss seeing everybody and all but we plan to have the next one in October. We will keep you up to date here on the web site. Thanks
Large Weekend for H2G
We just had the most wonderful weekend. It started as we made our way to Allens Point Baptist Church north of Honey Grove Texas on Friday night where we shared our music and had a great evening with a big outdoor meal with smoked meat and all the trimmings. Saturday night we drove down to Pickton Texas for a bluegrass show where we played after Brushy Creek and Denim Grass. The Crowd was good and we had a very good time. What nice people. Sunday morning we were up early and on the way to the Cowboy Crossing Church which is north of Hugo Oklahoma. There again we were welcomed by the nicest people that made us feel at home as we shared our music at their morning service. They fed us with peach cobbler for desert that was cooked out on the ground over hot coals. This was a great experience. Now thats what I call a large weekend.
Great people at Unity Baptist
The people at Unity Baptist Church in Hugo Oklahoma are the greatest. They made us feel so welcome as we joined them in their morning service Sunday morning. They then had a hamburger lunch with deserts and all. Then the Hard 2 Git band joined them at a near by nursing home for their outreach ministry where we sang and had a good time with the residents and church members. Thanks Unity Baptist for allowing us to be a part of your worship service and your day. Hard 2 Git
Busy Hard 2 Git Week-end
We will have a busy week-end as we go to Tom Bean at the Chrystal Opre House to play on their festival Saturday evening March 29th and on to Petty Baptist Church in Petty Texas Sunday March 30th at 1:00 PM. We in the band would like to see you at both places.
We also want to thank all the people that came to see us at Joan’s Bonham Hoedown last Sat. night. We had a great time and look forward to returning there. There were people there from Hugo Ok., Bairdstown Texas, Paris Texas, Hail Texas, the Bonham area and no telling where else. Thanks Joan for putting on these shows and doing such a good job.
The Shoemaker Barn
We are still tallking about the great hospitality and good time the Jerry and Larry Shoemaker showed us at the Barn. We enjoyed seeing and hearing their band Grass Notes as they performed that night with their daughter Christy and husband Walter as part of the band. The crowd was good and they were fun to play for as everybody seemed to have a great time. If you ever get the opportunity to make one of these shows at the Shoemaker Barn don’t miss the chance. Thanks Jerry and Larry for having the Hard 2 Git Band to share the evening. The Shoemakers were a familly band in the early 80’s and won the band contest at Grant’s Bluegrass Festival at Hugo Ok. Thanks again James
Fun at The Grove Music Hall
We in the band had a great time at the Grove Music Hall in Honey Grove. We want to thank all who came and made it such fun. Also thanks to Mark and Linda for providing the place for all this to happen. The people who were there stayed with us through two sets and a visitation time at intermission. There were people there from Hugo Oklahoma, Sherman, Paris and all in between. Stuart’s daughter Jessica and her new husband Brandon were there from Bastrop Texas. We are looking forward to the next time we get to play at The Grove Music Hall.
July H2G Show Huge Success
The July 2007 Hard 2 Git Show in Paris was enjoyed by all as Andi Huff, her mother Tammy and Highway 19 started things off with fiddle playing and harmony vocals. Wow !!!!! They put on a great show. They were followed by the Hard 2 Git Bluegrass Band and we had a good time with a mixture of new material and old favorites from our CD’s. Russell Hayes was up next and did a set by himself singing and playing his guitar. He was then joined by his mother Kay Hayes as she sang a version of Amazing Grace. She was then joined by the Highway 19 band for her final song. Kay did a super job. The next performer was Suzie Roach. She told of her trip to Main and shared her music with such a clear and beautiful voice. She is a favorite and a part of the H2G shows. The evening was wrapped up with a closing set by Hard 2 Git and Highway 19 playing and singing together. It was fun and finished up a show to be remembered. Our next H2G show will be Oct. 27th at the fairgrounds in Paris Texas. We will see you there. Thanks James
Hunt County Photos Up
We had a great service with our good friends at the Chicota Baptist Church last Sunday night. There new church building is just beautiful inside and out. They are such nice people. We also enjoyed our time at the Hunt County Fair. They had a top notch sound man ( Bill ) from Arlington to do our sound and he did a fantastic job. He had a large (very large) sound system and new how to use it. We made new friends and had a wonderful time. Our gig at the worm festival in Scroggins Texas Saturday night was cancelled due to the rain and bad festival. We were very sad about this and hope we get the chance to do it again some day. The photos are up for the Hunt County Fair taken by our own photogapher Orvil (deep woods) Todd. He was joined there by his assistant June Brewer. It was fun to have them there not to mention the good pictures. We were also met there by Lindsey’s Sister and friends David and Jan Williams and grandson David Thomas.
Busy H2G Week
We will see you at Chicota Baptist Church Sunday night, The Hunt County Fair Wednesday night and The Catalpa Worm Festival in Scroggins Texas Saturday night. By the way. We had a great time playing in McKinney Texas last Saturday night.
Don’t forget our Hard 2 Git Show July 28th at the fairgrounds in Paris.
